Understanding Full Fibre Broadband

Not all fibre is created equal. Here's how different broadband types stack up.

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) – True Full Fibre

Fibre to your home.
The fibre optic cable runs directly from the exchange to your property, delivering unmatched speeds of up to 10 Gbps. There is no copper, no slowdowns, just reliable, high-speed internet built for the future.

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) – Part Fibre, Part Copper

Fibre only up to your street cabinet. Copper takes over from there.
While fibre handles the main distance, the final connection to your home is through older copper wiring, limiting speeds to around 80 Mbps. Good for basic use, but copper reduces performance over distance.

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) – Copper All the Way

Traditional broadband uses copper cables from start to finish.
Originally designed for phone lines, this setup struggles to meet modern demands, offering speeds around 10 Mbps. Outdated for streaming, gaming, or heavy internet use.
